Your Guide to Slime Care
Your Oogoo Slime can provide hours of gooey stretchy fun and enjoyment that can even be incorporated into your self-care routine to de-stress and slow down. However, slimes too have a care routine that unfortunately they are unable to perform on themselves. Your Oogoo Slime will always be there for you if you are there for it so following a specific slime care routine is essential to keep your precious Oogoo feeling like its best self for you to enjoy practically forever.
Once you acquire your very own slime from Oogoo Slime, you’ll see that it comes with an activator spray. There lies the magic behind its longevity! The activator spray contains all of the special ingredients your slime needs to retain its perfect squishy goodness and original texture.
The Importance of Slime Care
Your Oogoo Slime will always start off squishy and flexible unless your slime was exposed to extended heat during transport (in which case you´ll need a quick and easy fixer-upper before handling.) You can test if you´ll need any activation at first by quickly poking one finger into the slime and seeing if the slime sticks to your finger when you pull it out. If it´s stickier than you´d like it to be, that´s where the activator spray comes in! See below for how to use. If your slime arrives ready to play with, then chances are you won’t face any trouble for a while since the slime will generally hold its shape quite easily without losing consistency.
However, your slime will start losing its consistency over time through exposure to different temperatures and environments or neglect. Elements might attach themselves to your slime’s surface, resulting in different types of damage. These might cause your slime to lose its stretchiness, become crumbly, start melting, or shed some of its original composition.
But for every slime problem, there is a slime solution!
SLIME TREATMENTS TO THE RESCUE!
You will likely observe various slime issues over time with prolonged play. The good news is that you can remedy these problems with the handy dandy activator spray and some expert tips, tricks and techniques in slime care.
Let´s teach you how to become a qualified slime doctor!
SYMPTOM #1: Slime is too firm, lacks stretch, or even breaks when pulled
Diagnosis: Your slime is too cold or over-activated!
Treatment: A warm windowsill “sauna” treatment or a few drops of vegetable glycerin
The Breakdown: Your slime will lose its stretchiness through over-activation or when exposed to cold environments and temperatures. In the worst cases, your slime may feel hardened, which won’t work for therapeutic ASMR or sensory experiences.
Transfer your slime to a warmer storage area and check its consistency over time. Keep checking on the product’s stretchiness until it reaches the ideal texture. If the texture remains relatively unchanged, you might need to shift your slime to a different location. In extremely cold environments, a few seconds in the microwave can also do the trick. If you suspect your slime is over-activated, a few drops of vegetable glycerin can also help loosen things up and bring back the original stretch.
SYMPTOM #2: Slime is Melted or Sticky.
Diagnosis: Your slime is too hot or under-activated!
Treatment: This is where your Activator Spray comes to the rescue! Read below
The Breakdown: Slime may start to “melt” into a jello-like consistency over time through general use and storage or exposure to heat. In this scenario, the Oogoo Slimes activator spray will be the perfect solution to restore your slime’s squishy texture. Read the instructions below for how to use.
In addition, keeping your slime in a cool dark environment will help prevent melting and minimize how often you´ll need to reactivate. In especially hot environments, you may also keep slime in the refrigerator especially for a few minutes before playing.
HOW TO USE ACTIVATOR SPRAY:
The activator spray contains a specially formulated solution that helps you “regenerate” parts of your slime. You can put it to use in no time by just spraying a little bit at a time either directly onto the slime and then massaging it in or by spraying it onto your hands first and then working it into the slime until it reaches your desired texture and consistency. Activator will help the slime become firmer and less sticky but be sure to work it in slowly just a little bit at a time so that your slime doesn´t become too firm or lose its stretch. This is known as over-activation and may take a few days in some light heat or sunlight on a windowsill to melt a little and become pliable again. If you follow to steps patiently for a slow and steady activation, you will have your favorite sensory slime back in shape before you know it!
SYMPTOM #3: Slime is a Crumbly Mess
Diagnosis: Your slime has dried out or experienced fallout from prolonged play.
Treatment: 1-2 pumps of unscented lotion massaged in.
The Breakdown: If your slime feels old and crumbly, it probably means that it has lost much of its original moisture from prolonged play or overexposure to the environment. You may simply apply any unscented lotion to re-hydrate your slime and replenish its “youthful” appearance.
SLIME DAMAGE CONTROL
As the saying goes, prevention is always better than cure. The same philosophy applies to slime care. Optimal storage and handling are crucial for increasing the lifespan of your precious slime. While it is inevitable that slime will gradually lose its original consistency with use and eventually require maintenance, there are some practical measures to reduce the rate of wear.
1. Wash Your Hands Before Playing
Keeping your hands clean before handling slime can significantly increase product life. Consider washing your hands with soap and warm running water before touching slime to prevent contact with grease, dirt, and other impurities that may contaminate the product.
2. Play on Clean Surfaces
Similarly, you can reduce the risks of product contamination and damage by playing with your slime on clean surfaces. Consider gently wiping a surface with non-alcohol wet wipes or a wet towel before laying your slime on it.
3. Proper Storage
Frequently check that the lid of your Oogoo Slime container remains adequately sealed when not in use. Environmental pollutants such as dirt and dust might enter a poorly closed container, resulting in opportunistic contamination.
Always use an airtight container to minimize the risk of contamination. Also, your slime is temperature-sensitive, so avoid places that are too hot or cold, which reduces the consistency of the product. We highly recommend room temperature storage at all times.
4. Reactive Your Slime Frequently
You should check on your slime’s consistency every few weeks to ensure its ideal texture. If you feel a change in your slime’s squish and texture, it’s time for some re-activation with the activator pack!
OPTIMAL SLIME CARE
Now that you have the tools and knowledge as a master slimer, it is time to put it all into practice! Your Oogoo Slime requires regular and dedicated care to keep it in perfect play-worthy shape.
Neglecting your slime product can result in an unwanted surprise when you finally take the product out of the container after a long time. So go ahead, put your beautiful and colorful slime to good use. Enjoy the sensation of running the slime through your hands and fingers. You might be giving it the tender loving care it needs!
Use this slime knowledge to give your Oogoo Slime the longest life possible! When properly cared for, some slimes can last practically forever. Happy sliming!
